Fed: Myers to encourage deal on missile shield - analyst

CANBERRA, Jan 14 AAP - Top US military officer General Richard Myers would probably
encourage a deal with Australia on a missile defence shield when he visits this week,
a defence analyst said today.

But Australian Strategic Policy Institute director Hugh White did not expect General
Myers, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, would involvement himself in negotiation
underway in Sydney with officials from the missile defence agency.
