Red-hot putter helps Lee to a 68

Two Britons led the field on the opening day of the AlfredDunhill Championship at the Leopard Creek Country Club in SouthAfrica.

Welshman Sion Bebb and Scots tour rookie Craig Lee made thebiggest impression at the picturesque layout on the border of theworld famous Kruger National Park.

The course, where leopards, hippos, giraffes, crocodiles andgiraffes roam freely, was tough to get around on day one, withDarren Clarke and Ross Fisher struggling with the windy conditions.

Clarke could only manage a topsy-turvy 73, while Fisher, currently second in the 2008 European Order of Merit, finished with a four-over-par 76, including a six on the par-three 12th hole.

Leader Bebb dropped just one shot in a five-under 67 that sawhim pull ahead of Omar Sandys and Lee, both on 68.

Lee, 30, from Stirling, hit eight birdies and four bogeys, butbelieves he could have done better.

"I hit the ball very well, not so great off the tee, but theputter was very, very hot," he said.
